How do I keep notifications from interrupting my music?

Is there a way to keep the notification center dialogs from lowering my music when I get them. I play my music in the car and every time I get a text or facebook post the music volume lowers, then goes back up. Its very annoying. I don't want to have to turn off each apps sound setting everytime I want to listen to music.

Seems a bit silly that one of the primary functions of iOS devices is music, yet nowadays you can't actually enjoy music on them.

this occured in iOS4 with text messages, but in iOS5 it now happens with all notifications. 😟

Other than turning Notifications off, while listening to music, no. If you want Notifications, that's the way it works.

I actually figured out a way to listen to music without audio notifications. I'm surprised I didn't notice this sooner, but all I had to do is flip the switch to silent, and all the notifications still come up, but they no longer interrupt the music.
