no "x" -- can't close tabs????

safari has been running horribly slow, and then all of a sudden, the X disappears from all the tabs. Can't close them unless you click to pull down the menu. Also, the "quit" function isn't working. So i'm stuck. I've reset and emptyed the cache and all that jazz. 😟

while we're at it... i've been getting a ridiculous amount of beach balls in general.... i got lion about 2-3 months ago. it's slowed the computer a little, but this is definitely a new issue... anyone else??

Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari

Move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder.

~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.

For LIon: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

And disable Resume > How To Disable Lion's 'Resume' Feature - MacRumors.com

And about the beachballs, how much free space on the startup disk? Not enough can slow the drive down.

Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space. Freeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac Guides
