Can't choose PDFs in iTunes to sync with iPad

I want to sync some PDF files to my iPad to read them in iBooks. But with my iPad connected and choosen from the devices list, the books tab only shows my books, but not a single one of the PDF files that exist in my iTunes' books section. (When I connect my iPhone instead of my iPad, all PDFs are perfectly there and I can sync them to iPhone fine.) So why is this? Is there any setting that makes my PDFs magically disappear from my iPad sync? How can I get my PDFs to sync to iBooks on iPad?

(iOS 5.0.1, iBooks 1.3.2, iTunes 10.5.1, OS X 10.7.2)

try this

Open iTunes

on the upper left you'll see a 'books' option

open that, it's the books folder on your computer (itunes folder anyway)

open another windows explorer window, navigate to your pdf's.

drag them into the iBooks folder in iTunes

then sync your device

and see if they show up on your device.

I just sync'd a PDF to my iPad and it worked. But I initially thought it didn't. Go under 'collections' in the ipad and choose to see books or pdf's. Evidentally you can't see both in your library at the same time.

So it may be syncing all along, but they're 'hidden'

Thanks for your suggestions.

What I did is: Updated to Safari 5.1.2 this morning, then I had to reboot, and after rebooting all those PDFs showed up under the iPad's books sync tab as expected. Strange. But anyway, now it works.

Thank you, skydiver. But the problem is was that no PDF was shown under iTunes' books tab to sync when I connected my iPad. When I connected the iPhone, they were all there, ready to sync. Anyway, problem seems to be solved (see below).

Yeah, I just updated safari and it started working properly for me again. Thanks for finding that out. Couldn't figure out what the problem was. Strange that safari had to be updated though.
