I have a printer canon mp495 and I'm trying to connect it to my iPad. But my iPad can find it the printer. Do I have to reset the printer or what app do I use?

One problem with printing Apps is that they can only be accessed from within other iPad Apps that have the "Open In" option. Check the iTunes App store for a free printing App from Canon. It will have limitations, but should get you printing.

There are quite a few AirPrint printers from the various companies on Tgara's list. I have an inexpensive HP AirPrint printer which was in the $79 range.

It's a real cheap inexpensive printer ($50) so I'm not surprised it doesn't have the hardware to use AirPrint.

You can try to use a universal printing app in the app store, or ask Santa for a real AirPrint printer for Christmas.

Canon MP495 is a wifi-compatible printer so it has all the hardware it needs to be AirPrint compatible. The issue is that Canon won't release a firmware/software upgrade for it to enable AirPrint compatibility which has nothing to do with its "cheapness."

If you have a wifi system at home or where ever the printer is and the printer has wifi capabilities but not airprint you can buy a program called printopia it works great if you do not have an airprint capable printer but your printer is on a wifi network

Printopia is Macintosh-only. <Printopia for Macintosh>

Another program that is available in both PC and Mac versions is FingerPrint. <FingerPrint>

For either program, your computer must be on and awake any time you want to print.

How are you trying to connect it? I believe you need the Canon Easy-PhotoPrint app in order to print to Canon printers, and not all printers are supported.

I'll try the universal and see if it works. Thanks.
