I've experienced my Mail app freezing twice in last two weeks in the middle of writing a mesage. I can't save it as a draft nor can send it, can't move to another folder. But if I leave the Mail app and go to gmail app it works. Anyone knows what's happening?
Thank you in forward for your help!
Have you tried the simple basic things?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

It is possible that you have an email in your inbox or trash folder that is causing the problem as well. Maybe an email with large attachment? If you have an email like that - try deleting it from the iPad. You may need to do that from the server in your webmail using a web browser if the mail app keeps frezzing on you.
I have an easier way that helped my fathers iPad when this occured, just double click the home button and a little bar of applications that run in the background appear. Then hold down the mail icon and delete it from the list. As you open Mail it should be working again. No need to restart the iPad. Hope this works for you!
