Can i play the iTunes library from my computer on my ipad via Remote? If not via Remote, how can i do this?

I'm trying to play my iTunes library on my iPad via the Remote app using home sharing. However, the only thing i seem to be able to do is command my computer to play music by using my iPad. Can i play the iTunes library from my computer on my ipad via Remote? If not via Remote, how can i do this? Because this would then allow me to have access to my full iTunes library on my iPad without having to synchronise all my music on my iPad. Thanks.
