QuickTime error -1409

Tried making QuickTime (v.7.6.4) movie from a Fotomagico Pro slideshow file (265 images, 2.5 gb). QT would not accept file. I get error message -1409. (Have never seen this before, but this is the first time I've tried to make a movie with QT. Maybe the file is too big?

My system: OS 10.5.8, MBook Pro, 4gb ram. How to fix? Many thanks!

No-- Have done all work on MBPro, OS 10.5.8. The Fotomagico slideshow software has been designed expressly for Macintosh, according to the developer Boinx (located in Berlin).

I'm trying to produce a self-contained slideshow--on a DVD or flash drive--that I can send to people and that does not require them to have Fotomagico installed on their hard drive. One solution might be to copy Fotomagico to the DVD or flash drive along with the slideshow file. But I cannot make extra copies of the program without being liable for the cost of additional licences.

Fotomagico support first suggested 1) making a slideshow copy via iDVD. But that got me the message "There was an internal iDVD error during the last action. Specified menu does not exist."

Then later suggested 2) making a Quicktime move. That attempt got me to the -1409 status error.

The complete error message was: "The movie could not be opened. Operation could not be completed (OSStatus error -1409.)"

Is it possible that QT Pro is required for working with slideshows? I have only the free QT (now is v.7.6.4) that came with the MacBook.

OK, --Back to the drawing board.

I downloaded QTPro and the newest version (3.8.2) of Fotomagico.

Opened the slideshow file, which has 265 images and 15-20 music clips (played sequentially) from various sources.

Went to File >Share. With the QT upgrade, one of the options now included QT movie. Selected NTSC and widescreen. Ran program--about 15-20 minutes to make QT movie. Result is .mov file, 6.3 gb. Opened file, and lo! the movie plays.

Then tried to copy the movie to a flash drive. No luck. Got a message: "Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0).

Thanks for the fantamorph link. Looked there, but it sounded too complicated for me. Afraid I would create new problems. Anyway, I have sidestepped the error -1409-- only to create a new one!

Update: Learned that error code 0 resulted from tryin to copy the 6.3 gb movie to a FAT32 formatted flash drive. Reformatted to OSX extended journaled and the file copied properly. But must go back and figure out what format (cropped or letterbox) provides the correct image proportions.

Many thanks for your help!
