There is no way to zero in on the location. Even if you knew its GPS location, there is no way it could be that precise. It seems you're out of luck, but if it's in the house it will turn up eventually.
Depending on how you configured the iPod, it could be quite easy. You can use a computer to make the iPod play a sound. Read the bottom of page 33 in the user manual.
Or, if you haven't set up Find My iPhone, but have set up Skype or Facetime you could call your Pod and hope you hear the sound.
Note that any of these suggestionss require the iPod to be ON.

i lost my ipod touch i can't find it all i know is its in the house is there a way i can locate it with out the ipod being connected to the computer
