In you searches did you see the "popular" problem about MM loosing connection.

You could try making the device a favorite, but I do not think that would address a freezing mouse problem. IMHO, the mouse is probably defective.

Yup, I searched high and low, none of the offered options worked for me.
I did find something that may be a possible clue - it's possible the problem only happens when BOTH the MM and my Apple Wireless Keyboard are connected. At one point I had only the MM connected and it worked long enough that I thought the problem was corrected.
However, as soon as I connected the keyboard, it started happening again.
Needs some more testing to see if there is a connection...

I had seen that listed as a possible fix, but for some reason the option to add as a favorite wasn't there. About a week later, I decided to tackle this issue again, figuring I must be missing something - before making a single change, I saw this now showed up as an option.
I made my MM a favorite as well as the KB and now both are working happily - I have not had issues since then.
Don't know what changed, but it's working now and for now I'll accept that.
