Changing permission on my USB Flash Drive

I have a 64GB USB Flash Drive that I used on PCs and my MBP. When I try to save PDFs and MS Office files from my Mac on to the flash drive, it says I do not have permission. How can I change the permissions so I can use the flash drive on both systems?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2), i7 / 750GB / 8GB

Exactly how is this flash drive partitioned and formatted? If you select the drive on your Mac Desktop, then pPress COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window, what is shown at the bottom of that window?

Owner=

Group=

Everyone=

And, in the lower left corner is their a checkbox labeled, "Ignore permissions on this volume," and, if so, is it checked or unchecked?

Since it's shared on both Macs and PCs, barring special circumstances, it's formatted as either FAT32, ExFAT, or NTFS. If it's formatted as FAT32 or ExFAT, it won't have an owner, group, or permissions, as the filesystem doesn't support them. If it's formatted as NTFS, it'll be read only on a Mac out of the box.

If that error message is generated for a FAT32 or ExFAT drive, it's either mounted as read-only or locked in hardware, both of which, again barring special circumstances, require specific action on someone's part. This type of issue can generally be assumed to be due to an NTFS-formatted drive.
