Wifi on my iPhone 4S has suddenly stopped working.

Wifi on my iPhone 4S has suddenly stopped working. When I try to sign in, it says I am putting in the wrong password, but I know the password is right. I am not having any problem with the wifi on my iPad, my iMac or my MacBook Air. Why does my iPhone suddenly want a different password? It was working fine up until a few days ago.

When I go to Settings >> Wifi >> and select the network name, I do not get an option to "Forget this network." I get a page that has DHCP selected, with a list including IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS, etc. All these items are blank, by the way, unlike the same page on my iPad which has all these fields populated with numbers. I am not given the option to enter the numbers.

Next option is to try resetting the iPhone. This is not the same as restarting the phone; it will reboot the phone and should clear up your problem. The proceedure to reset the phone is as follows:

  1. Hold the sleep/wake button at the top right and the home button at the bottom center at the same time.
  2. Hold them both until you see the screen go black and you see the white Apple logo appear. This will take at least 10 seconds.
  3. When you see the white Apple logo let go of both buttons and the iPhone will reboot.

After rebooting try connecting to your Wifi again. If this doesn't work you might want to try unplugging your Wifi router for 30 seconds and plugging it back in, then try again.

Ok I have finally managed to get this problem resolved on my iphone 4s.

(Credit to Randers4 btw as that is how I managed to do it with a few extra touches of my own of course!)

1. Go to your wifi in Settings. And select forget this network.

2. Then turn off the wifi function all-together.

3. Then go to home screen. And then hit the sleep button.

4. Then do the re-boot.

(Hold down both the Sleep/Wake and the Home button together. Don't let go yet.

DO NOT 'Slide to turn off iphone'.

Just keep holding the two buttons down; they will bypass the 'slide to turn off' function.

Then leave the phone alone until it turns itself back on again. (Same as you would when selecting 'Restart' on your computer).

Wait until the 'Slide to Unlock' screen appears. And unlock!

5. Turn the wifi back on.

6. Go to the Router name and enter the password again.

7. Hopefully it has worked and you can move on to the next obsticle!!!

G'luck g'luck!

(Sorry if my instructions are long-winded 🙂 )

Wifi on my iPhone 4S has suddenly stopped working.
