32-bit Java error with Navy Federal Credit Union eScan Deposit

I am trying to do eScan Deposit. The first time it said it needed to download a Java applet, and I said yes, after the download was complete it still did not recognize the scanner. It gave me an error saying "This system does not support 64-Bit Java. Select 32-Bit Java". I verified with Apple Support that both 32 and 64-bit Java come with snow leeopard and the Java Prefs were correct. Could this be the printer, or is this a Navy Federal web site issue? Anyone know how to fix the problem? Thanks in advance.

In Java Preferences, is the 32-bit engine at the top? If not, change the order and try again. If it is at the top, the applet is incompatible. It might work in another browser, such as Firefox, but I doubt it.

Thanks Linc. The 32-bit Java error went away. However, this did not solve the problem and I am now getting a twain compatibility error. I know the HP OfficeJet 7780 is TWAIN complian so I'm now looking into to a possible siolution by upgrading the TWAIN file.

The applet is trying to access your scanner? I wouldn't give much for your chances of getting that to work, nor do I understand the reason for it. Why can't you just upload an image you've already scanned?

The browser does not allow created files to be uploaded, it wants to manage that process. This worked fine for my windows latop, but I had the full HP driver installed. HP has not made one availabile yet for 10.7.2 and recommeds using the Apple drivers. I can do that fine for printing and scanning (with the Image software). But not with the application. The Credit Union sais it "should work with MAC" provided I have the right printer driver and TWAIN compliant scanner. The HP 7780is TWAIN compliant. HP recommended gong to www.twain.org and downloading TWAIN s/w for MACs. I started to, but the s/w was dated 2002 and won't help for newer MAC operating systems.

TWAIN drivers are built in, but I doubt that a Java applet could access them. The design of that site is incompetent, and it doesn't stop you from forging documents, if that's what the point is.

Apart from using Windows, your only other chance would be to install a WINE wrapper such as WineSkin or Crossover Mac, and run some version of Internet Explorer from within that. But it's a longshot.

Well, OK. I've got VMWare on here and Windows 7 for a few legacy apps Ican't run on MAC. So, I'll try to load it there. I'm not optimistic about it cause of the problems I had getting it to work on my iMAC, it would not install correctly. I'll try your Wineskin later if I can't get that working.

I am having this exact same problem with OSX 10.7.2. I really hope they figure this out since I have no access to a deposit capable ATM!
