searching for new computers vs having the agent call home

Right now, I have to to manually search for computers to add to ARD, we have tons of networks, etc and it's a pain. What if apple allowed us to configure the agent to call home or ping the ARD server with it's IP and location, etc. This wouls save a ton of time and making getting all the macs under control alot simpler. What do you guys think?

Seems to me like it would potentially cause a lot of network traffic with all those systems attempting to find and contact the ARD administrator which may or may not be running since there is no "server" as such (unless you've set up a task server which is not generally the administration workstation) unless you manually were to configure each workstation in advance with the ARD administration station's IP address.

Regards.
