Macbook Pro has blank screen does not boot up

Hi All,

I need some help. In trying to turn on my macbook Pro this afternoon, I only get a blank screen. When I press the power button, I do hear the CD/DVD drive wind up however I see nothing on my screen. I've attempted to remove the battery and re-insert and nothing changes.

The Apple Logo in back is not illuminated and either is the power button. There is no chime.

I do see the light by the LCD release (where you pop the screen up) lit and steady. But nothing else.

I have important work that I did today that needs to be copied over to a USB drive.

1. Has anyone experienced this? What can I do?

2. Is there a way I can copy me files over?

3. I will try this later tonight, but will connecting an external LCD help at all?

Thank you for any help.

Regards,

Alex
