Hi All,

I need some help. In trying to turn on my macbook Pro this afternoon, I only get a blank screen. When I press the power button, I do hear the CD/DVD drive wind up however I see nothing on my screen. I've attempted to remove the battery and re-insert and nothing changes.

The Apple Logo in back is not illuminated and either is the power button. There is no chime.

I do see the light by the LCD release (where you pop the screen up) lit and steady. But nothing else.

I have important work that I did today that needs to be copied over to a USB drive.

1. Has anyone experienced this? What can I do?

2. Is there a way I can copy me files over?

3. I will try this later tonight, but will connecting an external LCD help at all?

Thank you for any help.

Regards,

Alex

Have you tried holding the power key down for about 30 seconds until it forces a reboot?

Do you have your original Mac OS discs?  If so, boot off of the Mac OS DVD (boot while holding down the C key) and then run disc first aid.

Also, if you hold down "d" during start-up, it will run the "Apple Hardware Tests".
