My new iPhone was tampered with
I recieved a 'new' iPhone 4 from O2 in April 2011. Within 6 months the battery started to drain ridiculously quickly and I was advised by O2 to take it to either an Apple Store or an O2 store with a proof a purchase. The phone, I was told was still with the 12 month warranty which would mean the phone would either be repaired or replaced.
I booked an appointment with an Apple Genius who was very helpful and proceeded to look into the problem. At this point the iPhone battery was completely dead and wasn't taking a charge. The Apple Genius had to take the phone out the back so as to open it up and retrieve the reference numbers required to check warranty and to assist in repairing/replacing the phone.
When she cam back she told me that she wouldn't be able to help me as the tamper indicator stickers on the inside of the handset has been removed and there was evidence of drilling on the inner components. Obviously I was quite taken aback by this as I hadn't/wouldn't know how to tamper with the inside of an iPhone and I hadn't taken it to a third party. Why would I need to. My phone was in warranty. She told me to take it up with O2.
The O2 rep was less than helpful and even suggested that as I had had the phone since April that I had no way of proving I hadn't tampered with the phone during the time I'd had it. Subsequently O2 repair have told me they can do nothing as the 'tamper indicators had been removed'.
What do I do now? Who has tampered with my phone? I certainly haven't which can only suggest O2 Insure repurpose old and faulty phones and send them to those who claim on their (extortionate) insurance policies.
No one will accept responsibility for this. I have paid for my phone in good faith and I have been sent an old, faulty phone that has been repaired to an unsatisfactory standard. Yet O2 are denying any responsibility and Apple don't want/are unable to get involved.
Apple. Are you aware you brand integrity is being tarnished by unscrupulous Network providers. I love the Apple brand but by association with O2 am losing faith...
