not sure, but you can download it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1070
I understand that... The problem is I am in an Enterprise, using Apples Software Update Server to deploy to multiple devices and need it to be availible there.
I'm also running an enterprise software update server and do not see Safari 5.1.2. Can anyone explain why not? If I bypass my internal server, it comes up right away. Would appreciate any help, my developers need this version for testing. Thanks.
Are you using Apple Remote Desktop?
I found the answer... On your SUS server, open software updates, go to updates and highlight Safari. In the lower right hand corner, select choos version and choose the latest and greatest. You should be good to go...
Cheers
Thanks Wardy22, that indeed did it. Annoying that it's a bit obscure but it works.
CAVEAT EMPTOR:
I host updates for Lion and SnowLeopard on the same box. I see that there are 2 Safari v5.1.2 updates. One is 47MB (Product ID:041-2852) and the other is 38.3MB (Product ID:041-3552). I little digging in the sucatalog file shows that 2852 is for SnowLeopard and 3552 is for Lion. If you've got a mixed environment, you've got a problem!
It seems silly but if this is supposed to be an update server, why should I have to choose a version of Safari? Shouldn't ALL updates be available? I'm just saying... 😕 😠
I guess for mixed environments we are expected to have separate Software Update Servers. 🙂
I tried to change to this version, but get the following error in the log.
Jan 11 15:53:24 mainserver.pretendco.com swupd_syncd[58458] <Warning>: Download cancelled for product 041-3552 (Safari 5.1.2)
Did any of you get this same error? What's the solution? Just wait for it to automatically try again? Or restart the server?
Now it says
Jan 11 16:11:41 mainserver.pretendco.com swupd_syncd[59170] <Warning>: ignored invalid download request for product 041-3552, current state = PleaseMirror
I checked the KB article on apple.com and it says this error means: The Software Update service will not enable software updates that aren't completely downloaded, or updates where the stored status of the update is incomplete. This issue can be caused by an interrupted download or if there are communications issues between the local network and the Apple Software Update servers.
Server Admin shows an exclamation point next to the update and the update cannot be enabled via Server Admin. For more information refer to the KB article.
So after 24 hours, it appears to have got downloaded. It's working now. Thanks
