The fan immediately *whirred* to life and then everything went silent again. The clicking noise was driving me insane, it sounded like a miniature crab was stuck in my computer.

see if the fan blow?
repeat if the fan still stop,.. I did that in my new MBA just bought 2 weeks ago,..and the fan exactly the same as your problem,. Success for me,..Now everything is OK

Nov 25, 2015 12:25 AM in response to tk99by elizabethjimenez,I was experiencing the same problem and the knock did it for me! I had to "hit" the top left back side once with medium force and my laptop made a clicking noise and then the fan started moving. All fixed! Thanks!
