Dec 6, 2011 12:57 PM in response to ajfromsan sebastianby gholder4235,Okay so this what I did to make it work. I have a mobile me account and I went into setting and scrolled down to calendar. There I opened my mobile me account and turned on the calendar switch and viola I could use invitee.
Now to get complicated. I read it could also be turned on with a gmail account. So previously I had set one up and added it to my phone email. But when I went to activate the gmail calendar switch it warned me it was going to erase my existing calendar. Which I couldn't do.
So if you don't have a mobile me acct maybe you export your calendar then import into a gmail calendar and then activate it on your phone? And have invitee, Maybe.
Note to Apple- Why make this feature so hard to activate? Just make it standard with the software.

Dec 6, 2011 1:40 PM in response to gholder4235by ajfromsan sebastian,Thanks but not so easy...
I have three accounts: icloud, MS Exchange and gmail... all of them with the calendar option ON. When making a new event, if I choose the icloud calendar voila the invitees appears but if I select any other calendar disappears... :-( So I only can invite to people to an icloud calendar which is not right in my case because the MSExchange is the calendar for my company...
the worst thing is that in my Ipad I have the same accounts and the option of invitees appears with any calendar... :-(
I'm becoming really crazy!
thanks in any case...!

Jan 11, 2012 11:08 PM in response to gholder4235by thm22,All,
I had the same problem. It looks like the Invitee tab is only active if you are making/editing an event in a Exchange or in a iCloud calendar. You can set either one as your default calendar, then it will always be there. Or you can switch the calendar on the individual event, in which case it either shows or disappears. It does not matter how many or what type of calendars you have, the event has to either be in iCloud or Exchange. A serious design flaw, if you ask me. What if I'd like to use Google or Yahoo for my may calendar. Then I am not supposed to meet anyone?

Jul 1, 2012 9:54 PM in response to gholder4235by Alfcomp,I think if you set up a gmail accounts as an exchange account as opposedto a "gmail" account (in the new account set up dialog,) you will be able to use contacts w the calendar as you are trying to do.

Sep 25, 2012 11:09 PM in response to adrien.vionby avoidspam,Here is a link that walks you through how to setup an Exchange account for Gmail:
http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&topic=14252&answer=138740
but there is still a problem. I have done this and yes, the invitees option now shows up, but no matter what email address you enter under the invitees, it does *not* email the invitee the appointment. It does work if it's an iCloud or Exchange server, but will not for Gmail. I am not sure why they are blocking this ability. Very frustrating.

Sep 25, 2012 11:28 PM in response to gholder4235by Kaka Dongguan,My mobile is working well.
Be sure you mark "All Calendars" in your device.
If you want invite someone, I believe he also should have an iPhone, but I am not sure about it.
Also confirm if in Settings>>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>>Calendars:
1. The option New invitation is turn on. In "Standard Calendar", mark Calendar (from my PC).
2. You also must turn on "Alerts of Sharing" (I do not know if is the right name in English, since I am currently using another language in my device)
Good Luck
If it helps, please vote.

Sep 28, 2012 10:20 PM in response to Kaka Dongguanby galos,Thanks for your reply, unfortunately I can't find all the settings you're referring to. Here is what I was able to confirm:
In Settings>>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>>Calendars:
- I have "New Invitation Alerts set to ON
- Default Calendar (is the calendar in question)
- Shared Calendar Alerts is set to ON
In my Calendar App, I have Show All Calendars
Perhaps some of these were what you were referring to?
In any event, I still cannot get it to send out an invite even though it shows the email for the person I invited. It works perfectly fine for Outlook, but just not Gmail.

Oct 6, 2012 2:27 PM in response to gholder4235by Usermom58,I had the same problem. It looks like the Invitee tab is only active if you are making/editing an event in a Exchange or in a iCloud calendar. I needed to go to settings. then down to Mail, Contacts, Calendars then I needed to change my default calendar to icloud. Then make sure the new invitation alerts is on. Hope this is helpful.

Dec 24, 2012 5:55 AM in response to cbrr900by galos,cbrr900: no, that hasn't worked. While it shows the option to invite someone, it does not actually send the invite to the person. I have my gmail setup as an exchange account for that reason as well as being able to change the calendar color, but with my iPhone 5 running 6.0.2, it does not work.
