I can't seem to export photos from IPhoto to a USB device that holds a 4GB chip. I keep getting a message "unable to create/volumes". I click on the album I created, then click on export, then click on the device, but no luck???? Help, thanks!

Select the photo(s) and export to a desktop folder and drag that folder to the USB device

Good suggestion, but when I drag the file to the USB device icon, it won't download the file.??? Any idea why this is happening? Thanks, N

Note that this is not an iPhoto issue but a system or user issue - and simply saying that something does not work is not really enough information to allow someone with no knoledge of your or your system to help
One could make wild guesses for months before addicdentially hitting the correct one

Sounds like the USB device is write protected, or not working. What happens when you double click on the USB device's icon? Does a finder window open? Can you drag *any* files to the USB device?
Keith, when I double click on the device, it opens up fine, but I am unable to drag and drop any type of files into the device. However, the device seems to work fine importing pictures, but I can't seem to export??

What format is the device? NTFS?
Just what is this thing? A USB stick? A CF Card?
It's USB 2.0 SD/SDHC/MMC/MS/MSPRO Reader/Writer. I got it from the camera store to download pictures from my Mac onto a chip. My hope was to send the chip with photos to my in-laws to use in their new "photo frame".
That doesn't matter... That's just somewhere to stick the card. You do have a card in it, don't you?

If you are using a CF card, look closely at it. There should be a little switch on the side. Make sure it is not in the "lock" position. For a large example, check this out:

Otherwise there may be some damage to the file system. Once all the images are safely stored on the computer (and your backup!) try to reformat the card in the camera and try again.
Problem solved....the device was defective. It would read only and not write! I went back to the photo store for the third time. They kept telling me the device was working fine. I challenged them to export a picture or any file onto the disk using the USB device...bingo...it won't work for them either. New device and works fine. Thank you so much for all the collective efforts to help me with my problem!!! Nick
