Can't get iCloud mail

Hi all 😉,

since some days if I try to access my iCloud mail (@me.com account) via iPhone I get the following error:

Cannot Get Mail: The connection to the server failed.

Please note that when I initially setup iCloud, a couple of months ago, the mail worked fine. And of course now other email accounts work normally.

Any suggestions?

So, I fixed my problem with a call to Apple iCloud Support. After going through the normal troubleshooting (all of which I had done before), I was transferred to Apple iCloud Advanced Help. The issue was forwarded to senior engineers who required a temporary password to access my account so they could see the problem. Within a few hours, I recieved a call back and my issue was resolved. Although vague about the cause, they mentioned it had something to do with the way my account was being routed through their many different servers.

I am happy to say I have had no issues since (to include not being able to access the server or being asked over and over to re-enter my iCloud password).

I went to iCloud support at www.icloud.com/support and clicked on the link to contact support. The site will allow you to set a time for an Apple support person to call you.

I believe they will ask you to have a device under warranty or Apple care that is valid to obtain free support. However, I know they have the ability to give support in non-warranty situations.

I'm having the same issue and have had it for weeks. ICloud email works fine on my iMac and iPhone but not on my iPad. I've turned mail off and on, deleted my iCloud account leaving all data in place, deleted my iCloud account and deleted all data, reset my password followed by deleting and restoring iCloud account, and I'm still having the same error. Extremely frustrating.

Hello friend!

The iCloud problem may appear sometime due to incorrect Wi-Fi connection, issues with iPhone etc. In order to get over the issue and restore your data from iCloud backup just go with a powerful iPhone video recovery software.

I just received my new 27" iMac last week and transferred my files and settings using the migration app in the Utilities folder from my 17" MacBook Pro. My system works great with the exception of not being able to connect Apple Mail and Notes to my iCloud account. In my case, it resolves to the p02-imap.mail.me.com server.

Apple support tried hard to get this working for me - I was asked to delete my current email account then try to recreate it from System Preferences/iCloud. I was told that the system was unable to communicate with the p02 server at this time - to try it from Apple Mail instead. Notes - I was told to try again later. The Apple support tech had me create a new test account and go back to the iCloud preferences. That also failed. We tried changing DNS settings and several other things that also failed.

Finally, he asked me to reinstall Mountain Lion. I did that as well - but it did nothing to resolve the problem.

Yesterday, he called back to ask if I could carry the system to a nearby Apple Store to see if I could connect via their router. No? Then maybe I could start fresh and MANUALLY go back to factory and reinstall MANUALLY all my programs and re-establish all my settings to resolve the problem.

These are great ideas for an act of desperation, but, as I reminded him, my Outlook account connects to the same server just fine. So... I'm baffled as to the problem's resolution or cause at this time.

I do appreciate the effort Apple techs put into these things though.

Hi Ron,

This is mind boggling! I have two Mail iCloud accounts (two different addresses) and access only from my MacBook pro where all accounts were running super before. Since arriving back in South Africa on 12 Mar and upgrading to OSX 10.8.3 I've have intermittent fails/drop-offs and today cannot even access my mail on both accounts via the iCloud website!

My logon works perfectly but then cannot access any other iCloud apps as well!

This is highly frustrating as I am currently job hunting and need secure fast comms.

More mind boggling is that my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.3) Mail works just fine.

Now need to give Apple support here in SA a try....first time ever.
