Can't get iCloud mail

Hi all 😉,

since some days if I try to access my iCloud mail (@me.com account) via iPhone I get the following error:

Cannot Get Mail: The connection to the server failed.

Please note that when I initially setup iCloud, a couple of months ago, the mail worked fine. And of course now other email accounts work normally.

Any suggestions?

Lenovo ThinkPad, Windows Vista, iTunes 10.5.1.42, various iDevices

Try removing it from mail accounts and setting it up again.

Just tried to:

  • turn OFF Mail in iCloud settings (iCloud account disappears from email accounts list) and then ON again
  • delete the entire iClod account and setup it again

but I continue to receive the error "Cannot Get Mail" 😠.

Well, I understand that probably I'm the only one who has this problem, but currently my iCloud Mail has stopped working, and I'm a bit disappointed for this.

Is there anyone at Apple who can explain why?

Since iCloud System Status (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/systemstatus/) says that everything is ok, Is there a way to test the reachability of the iCloud mail server from an iPhone?

Thanks 😉

Same problem here. After contacting support I had to:

- disable/enable mail in settings->mail...

- restart iphone

- deleted icloud account from iphone

- factory restore entire iphone

This did not (NOT) resolve the issue 😟

This is not good at all 😠. Since the problem is on the connectivity between the iPhone (or iPad) and iCloud mail server, there should be a way to test if the connectivity is ok, and to understand hence if the problem is on the device or on the remote site.

Same problem with me. Get the same message on both my iphone 4 and my mac. On my mac it give me the unreachable host as p02-imap.mail.me.com. Already tried everything I could but nothing seems to work. The strange thing is that sometimes it conects to the server, like once or twice a day but only for a minute or two, than it stops working again for the rest of tha day.

Just thought I would also say my me.com email isn't working. It is really frustrating because it was working fine (I just got an iphone) when I setup my account this morning but now I am at work and I'm not getting any emails nor am I able to send. I just keep getting that error message. I even wiped my phone. What else is there to do?

I also have tried on 3g and wifi. I don't get how I made the account this morning and I was getting emails and sending them, and now it just stops.

My icloud email has stopped worked all of a sudden. says username or password for icloud is incorrect. if i go the web site for icloud i also can't get in to my mail. Seriously???? Apple doesn't have this working yet???

obviously there is a system problem and it is not reflected in their server status. makes you wonder if ever shoes a server problem.

Had another 45min call with Apple support (of which 20mins waiting ).

While deleting, disabling and restoring did not help a 2nd level was asked. In short: "No problems at Apple end of the line".

I had to factory default again and not restore but enable iCloud mail from a fresh init. As expected this made _no_ difference: "Cannot get Mail. Connection ... failed".

Via the webinterface to iCloud folders and mails show as expected.

I also enabled iCloud mail on my mac. After an initial fetch of the inbox mails I get a message: p04-imap.mail.me.com" "server hosting this mailbox is not available"

So things get worse😟.
