conference call number

I am making the move from Blackberry to the iPhone 4S. I have tons of conference calls that I need to dial the 1-800 number then the access code. On the BB it was part of the calendar and you could enter or accept invite populating the right fields. You then could simply have 1 touch dial the phone number and then 1 touch dial the access code. How do I do it on the iPhone?

Thanks

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1

No problem, Sailingnuts. The iPhone calendar can provide autmatic dialing of the entire conference number / access code in a single click, but in a slightly different format from the BB. When you create a new meeting, just add the conference line and participant code to the "Location" field of the invite, in this format:

800-123-4567,1234567#

The iPhone calendar will make the entire number a dialable link, and will pause 2 seconds for every comma before automatically dialing the participant passcode and pound key (add as many commas as you need to wait longer after the conferencing system picks up before auto dialing the passcode - no spaces between numbers or commas).

I work for a large company where there are tons of BB's, Droids, and iPhones, and we pretty much just add all 3 smartphone syntax's to every meeting so that participants can just click the one that their phone recognizes.

Hope that helps!

JLingle's solution will work if you are the creator of the meeting or want to go update each one. I attend a lot of conferences that other people set, and coming from a Blackberry to the iPhone had the same frustruation you are describing, so I wrote an app to solve the problem. It's ApptDialer. You can find it on the AppStore or more info here: http://itapless.com/products It reads your calendar and pattern matches for phone number and codes, then lets you select which pair you want and constructs the dial string for you. Basically it automates exactly what JLingle is suggesting that you manually do to each of your calendar entries. It would be nice if the OS or native calendar app handled it more gracefully, but this was the best solution I could come up with that doesn't require manual editing. Check out the reviews, a lot of people use it to solve this exact problem. I use it everyday myself!
