Why does iTunes say my computer is not authorized when it is?

iTunes give me a message that says "some of the items purchased on the iPhone cannot be transferred because you are not authorized for them on this computer." But it IS authorized. The items in question are new apps I downloaded to my phone. I tried removing the SC file, per another thread suggestion..didn't work.

I am having the same problem. I can't sync a movie purchased 2 days ago from my iMac to my iPod2. Itunes argues that computer is not authorized??? But the computer plays the movie just fine!!! This sync process is soo buggy almost wish there was a windows alternative. I have authorized the computer over and over and the purchase was made using the right iTune ID needless to say. Apple need to seriously wake up to these problems!!!! Their sofware is not up what it says it can do.

Any ideas?

I have never been on here before and had to go to the trouble of making a name etc, so that I could say

YOU ARE A LEGEND!!!! I'm not overly techno, and have grown up with PC based software, we have a Mac for our home computer and and iPad, but I mostly use my work laptop that which is PC. You instantly fixed a problem that I had been trying to fix for over two days. It just didn't make sense that you couldn't get these movies onto my iPad, I was thinking whats the point if you can't do something as simple as this.

Thanks to people like you (not apple support) we are able to fix the problem so easily. I really appeciate it. 😀

I have tried the suggestions made here and, so far, nothing has worked. I do not have a shared file and my e-mail address is entered correctly. My main problem is centered around my audiobooks. I either get the message that the computer is not authorized or, it acts like it is syncing my books but they are empty icons.

Are you downloading from a site like Audible.com? My solution when having issues downloading from Audible was to simply download the files to the harddrive then manually adding a file in iTunes. I've had an Audible account for years, but ever since the update to IE9 and using Chrome (my default browser), the download managers don't seem to communicate with iTunes to sync.

I'm using the latest macbook Pro Retina display. When trying to sync my ipad to my mac, it says the same thing "cannot transfer purchased item form ipad to mac (pages, keynote and imovie) because computer is not authorized. I tried going to finder and look for the sc info folder in shared but nothing showed up. Is there any other solution you came up with ?

thank you, thank you! you have solved a problem that i've had for over two years - ever since i migrated my content from an older mac to my current one. everything sync'd ok except tv shows. i scoured the forums with no luck and eventually just gave up and loaded that content over wifi directly to my iphone and gave up trying to sync from my computer with itunes.

after reading this post i went and looked in /Users/Shared. i had both a "SC info" and "SC info~orig" directory. i stopped itunes, removed both of them, restarted itunes, reauthorized my machine and it all worked! i can sync tv shows again. amazing. i had a workaround but this has been bugging me and bugging me.

i do think the suggestion to deauthorize your current computer before starting this process is a good one. i did *not* remember to do that, and when i looked at the count as i was reauthorizing my computer it's 1 too many. i'm still under 5 so i'll leave it for now, but at some point i'll have to deauthorize everything and reauth to get the count right.

but yay! thanks for sharing a fix that actually works. no more burning sage leaves or voodoo dances around my computer...

Not sure I'm following your problem but I just got a new iPhone and it took me a minute to figure out how to transfer my apps. On my new phone when I went to the Apps Store, under Updates there is a tab for "Purchased". These were all the apps saved to the iCloud. All I had to do was select the ones that I wanted on my new phone. It will not save data from past games but it will load the apps. Apps that I bought pre-iCloud I simply dragged over to the iPhone while plugged into my computer. As for pictures and videos, plug the old iPod into you computer. Open in My Computer. Treat it like data. You can copy and paste all your pics/vids onto your computer just like you would data from a camera or external hard drive. Hope this helps.

Where do you find the Shared/SC file? I can't find it. I apologize to those who are computer savvy and annoyed by questions like these. Please help!

Ok never mind I found the folder. Deleted it. Restarted iTunes. Was asked to authorized my already (countless times) authorized computer. Same apps not able to be synced. This is ridiculous. How can a worldwide corporation like Apple not have a fix to this obviously long-running problem?!

Why does iTunes say my computer is not authorized when it is?
