Restoring iPad from iCloud?

Yesterday, my iPad bit the dust after some strange behavior. I was and am traveling, and away from home. My daughter downloaded OSX 10.7 on the home computer to enable me to restore the apps and settings on the iPad distantly. With iCloud enabled on the home machine, I also backed up my iPhone 4 to the cloud.

I had to do a system reset on the iPad, new software and firmware was downloaded via iTunes on my PC laptop. Having done the system restore, my previous content was lost. Here's the issue: When I went to restore the iPad using iCloud, the only back-up it recognized was from my iPhone. I've a number of iPad only apps which I need to access. How do I back the desktop Mac's apps and documents to the cloud so that I can restore my iPad to its originial settings?
