Imac 9,1 4gb ddr 1333 ram upgrade, is posible ?

Hi,

I have an Imac 9,1 and I want to upgrade the ram of it from 2gb ddr3 1067 mhz to 4gb ddr3 1333 mhz.

It is posible ?

Will have some memory speed issues ? Because it cames originaly with 1067 mhz memory and I want to add 1333mhz memory.

I get those memory modules from a macbook pro 2011.

Thanks.

Your iMac 9,1 can go up to 8GB. While memory is only supposed to be used as fast as the architecture will allow, I probably wouldn't mix speeds. However, if you have the memory in hand, why not put it in and see if it's OK? I'd run rember from http://kelleycomputing.net/rember/ and run it overnight to give it a good workout. Maybe run the Apple hardware extended test in loop mode (press command and L while it's executing) and let it run overnight too. Chances are pretty good if there are no errors found, you'll be OK.

Worst case, you start getting kernel panics, and you pull the MBP memory out.
