Are you sure you aren't?
You may have activated the quantum teleporter.
Yes, wifi only. My iMac is running off the same wifi and it has the correct time.
Open the map, hit find my location button?
Wifi uses your routers(or nearby router) ip/Mac address to locate you.
You might not be in the database yet or your iPad is fondly remembering its birthplace and needs a kick in the butt.
Try looking into your router software. The router was probably made in china and thinks it's in china. If the software has any sort of timezone or anything on it, and if you can alter than, then it might show your iPad in the right location.
You can know for sure that it's just the router if you take your iPad to a wifi hotspot somewhere (like mcdonalds, a coffee shop, etc) and try location services. If they show your location correctly, then it's your router and it's doubtful that Apple will fix your iPad because there's nothing wrong with it.
If you take the iPad to a different location and it still persists in thinking you're in china, then it's likely a problem with the iPad.
As many people have this issue there must be a brand of routers out there that aren't resetting their location or have a bug in their software.
Haha no. I'm positive that I am not in China.
Wifi only?
I just restored it and it is working now. Thanks!
Scratch that...It went back to China!
Take it to the nearest Apple tech support.
If they can't fix you can get it replaced.
