additive dissolve vs. cross dissolve

I'm new to FCP X. Having a **** of a time. Things just BLOOP move around like nothing and it's the most disarming experience I've ever had editing. (I've been doing this professionally for a long time)

Anyway, won't spend my time *******' here. I just hope the folks at Apple actually listen to us and move back to something like FCP 7 (with some of the cool FCP X elements, the color match is AMAZING in FCP X for example. See, I can be positive)

Just want to figure out why all my dissolves look like 'Additive dissolves' and not regular cross dissolves. Any way to change/ manipuate that in FCP X?

Thanks,

Mike
