Shaking letters.

Hey guys,

I just recently upgraded from Final Cut Express to Final Cut Pro. I'm making a video and it periodically has a sentence of text that starts like a medium font size and gets larger (like its coming toward you). In Final Cut Express what I would have done was made a new Outline Text and adjusted the font size so that the sentence fills the screen. I would then go into motion, make it smaller that way, add a key frame, and have it come back up to 100. I've done that plenty of times in the past. Well, In Final Cut Pro, I assumed it would look much better if I set the size to medium, added a keyframe on the actual size in the controls panel (which of course you can't do in Express) and make it grow bigger that way... but when I do that, the letters shake. I rendered it.. and it still shook. I exported it and even burned a test DVD but the letters still shake!!

Why is this??
What do I do to fix it??
Should I continue to do this effect using my Final Cut Express way?

Thank you!!

I've not seen this problem before, but that's probably because I'd choose After Effects, Motion or Live Type for this type of effect. Don't forget that FCP is an editing program, not a motion graphics program, and hence many effects like this are best done with other software designed for that purpose. Sorry it doesn't solve your problem, but that's the best advice I can give.

Are you using scale under the Controls tab or under the Motion tab?
I recommend you scale using the Motion tab settings. It sounds like an interlacing problem (small parts of the letters overlapping the individual lines of the TV). You might want to try using the Flicker Filter under the Effects>Video Filters>Video. You have three settings to work with there. I use this filter a good bit with text, especially with serifed fonts, when creating text in Final Cut Pro.
