Does Bootcamp Restrict Windows 7 Registry Editing?

I've been trying to disable core parking through the Windows Registry Editor. Now whether you think that's a good idea or bad, it seems that most items in the Registry's menu are greyed and not accessable. I am admin. Is this just my lack of Windows prowess or has Apple restricted my Windows experience?

Quite possibly neither. Definitely not the latter, with BootCamp. (You're running Windows natively on an Intel-based PC.)

Which particular version of Windows 7 are you running? Are you 32-bit or 64-bit? (It might help with research as to what might be going on with your registry editor.)

In order to shut off parking, the user must find the key strings associated with core parking. The website(s) that explained how to do this has the user cut and paste a hex key-string into Find in order to retrieve it. That didn't work but someone else provided the key's description which I did get with Find. So it worked! I don't ever plan on opening the registry again unless I wish to reverse the core parking. But still, half the menu items are greyed. No where in my searching the web did I find others with this problem so naturally I blamed Apple :-)

I will have to look up what that means. Or intails. But if it has to do with disabling features of the (Nehalem iX family of processors) then, and just me, on my PCs HT can be turned off, Power Options to change idle power. In BIOS there are a number of ways to change and adjust but THAT is what/where you are locked out using Apple's implementation and proprietary EFI.

Requires that you have a quad core (not 4 logical HT cores):

The setting in the 1st post of this thread [ and the regedit it " replaces " in the cross-referenced thread ] is solely to disable CPU Core Parking in Win 7 for quad-core DAW's.

Oooh. So it's quite possibly the subtleties related to using an EFI rather than an older sort of BIOS thingy for the firmware on the Apple hardware that is afoot here? That hadn't occurred to me at all in this context. Apologies, eric, and many thanks for cleaning up after me, hatter.
