Launch iTunes on your computer - go to Store>Check for Available Downloads. If something shows up - download it in iTunes and then see if that frees up the "clog" on the iPad.
If that doesn't help - go to Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap on your ID and sign out of you account. Restart the iPad and sign in to your account again via Settings>Store>Sign In.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't help - try rebooting your router - unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.
Sorry to reply to your post with "Me too", but.... me too.
I am trying to RESTORE my iPad2.
I click RESTORE, and it says there is software to download, THEN it will restore....
Agree to all the windows and agreements....
It starts to download the iPad Software Update.
Wait 1-5 minutes, then it stops, opens a error window"
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad "name". The network connection timed out.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.
well.... obviously my network is good, I'm typing this here.
Biggest headache is that (unlike other iTunes downloads) it RESETS!!!! Why?! Why!?
With any other download, if it stalls, it wil continue from where it left off. Say... if 20MB of 200MB is downloaded, then if I hit resume, it will start at 20MB.
With the Software Update it ALWAYS starts at ZERO.
I need a way around this.
2 solutions? 1) how do I reset to factory without the update? 2) how do I download the update?
And.... unless there is a hidden Firewall, or virus scanner I'm unaware of, that is not the issue. Even under SHARE, I have the firewall turned off. And this only happens with the updates.
Sorry Demo, none of those work. Actually the same thing happens in Itunes: it tries to download updates several times (fails each time) and then tells me that the file was damaged..... and thats it. Extremely helpful to know that something is wrong of course... helping me to solve the problem might even be better but unfortunately the software seems incapable to do that.
I guess I have to dig deeper to see if someone encountered something like this. Thanks for your help though!
