Safari unable to open Preview after Adobe Download/Uninstall

I downloaded Adobe, and immediately hated that I couldn't make it default. I tried to uncheck the box under the internet tab, but it's greyed out. I tried deleting the hd/library/internet plug-ins Adobe plug-in, no love. I uninstalled Adobe, but now Safari refuses to open with preview again. How can I fix it?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Janelle...

Right or control click a PDF file you have stored on the hard drive then click Get Info.

In the Get Info panel click the pop up menu next to: Open with

Select Preview

Select: Change All

This is a Safari issue, so it had no effect. Yes, that works when opening documents already saved or downloaded to my computer, but I dislike having to download files before I can even view them.
