Songs in iTunes greyed out and won't play!

I just restored from a Time Machine backup from a month ago. Now I have songs in iTunes that are greyed out and that won't play. Each song shows a greyed out "syncing" button to the left of the track name. It's a static button that doesn't rotate to show syncing or anything.

These songs are on my iPhone and play fine there. I already tried syncing the phone... doesn't help. How in the world do I fix this?

Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

Thanks... however that didn't work.

I did figure out a fix...

1) Deleted the greyed out songs (it didn't ask me to "Move to Trash - so like you said, the files weren't found)

2) Logged into iTunes and clicked the "iTunes Store" link.

3) In right hand column I clicked on "Purchased".

4) Selected "Music" downloads and on right hand side selected, "Not in My Library".

5) It allowed me to download them again!!
