iTunes error 5002

5002 errors are related to payment processing. from the various threads on this board, it seems to be something on Apple's side. you can try to contact the iTunes team, but usually it looks like the essential way to respond is to actually "try again later." Usually that's just a useless, annoying message that doesn't really solve anything. but in this case it seems to be true.

For the record, I'm having the same issue today (12/9) while trying to download a pre-order. when I click "check for authorized purchases in the iTunes menu i get a message saying everything is downloaded. when I try to login to my iTunes account it says I have a pre-order available to download, but then once I sign in i get the 5002 error message.

same error here as well today - 12/9. i received an email last night notifying me that my pre-order was ready (girl with dragon tattoo soundtrack). when i clicked the link to download, i got the error. when i tried again today, i received the same error.

I'm getting the same error on the exact same item as J Scott Allen.

I searched "iTunes 5002" on Twitter and there are dozens of people with the same issue with the same album...

after some research and trying apple's suggested fixes, i just canceled my pre-order since it hadn't downloaded and i hadn't be charged. i then was able to purchase and download the album without any issue. defeats the purpose of pre-order, but at least i was able to finally get the album.

I just tried to download at 2:15 pm EST and it worked. not sure there was anything major you got for pre-ordering other than instant access to immigrant song, right? otherwise I'd suggest you contact apple and ask for whatever the pre-order bonus was. seems like this was a public enough issue.

whatever the case, it's time to enjoy some music!!!

that was my album of error too. very frustrating cuz I REALLY wanted to listen to it this morning. oh well.
