how to activate account without credit card

Ok, I am 99% sure it will work. Go to iTunes (On a computer), then to the App Store. Find a FREE app and hit download. It should bring up a log in screen, hit create a new account, fill out all the information, then hit next. It should then say provide payment info, hit none, continue. Fill out anything else needed. The alternatives are credit cards or iTunes Gift cards. You can create an account with out entering any credit card information. If you have a gift card handy when you create an account you should be able to redeem the card during the sign up process. Even then once you have an account and are signed in use the Redeem button in the menu on the right side of the home page.

I prefer using gift cards myself even though I regurlarly have a surplus balance most of the time. It is a way of setting an allowance for myself and not getting carried away buying things. As a bonus the credits work both in the iTunes Store as well as the Mac App Store for purcvhasing programs for the MacBook Pro.

In order to create an account without a credit card, you must make sure you are in the App Store, not the iTunes Store and you must try to "buy" a free app.

For anyone that wants the none otion as a payment method:

-make a new master account (msn or yahoo) I did mine on msn

-when done making master account, make a gmail

-after that, use your gmail to make apple id

-youll thank me later

You need to do the following when at the Credit Card page

• Click on Paypal
• Click on 'To redeem a code, click here'

From this new workflow, you will be able to get to the same page with the 'None' option
