[!] iPhone iOS 5 Battery Life - Quick Toggle Feature

Hi all.

An iPhone 4S user here, who has followed the tweaks on this forum in which to get the best from the battery. Thanks to those who have helped. Sorry to those that the fixes do not help, I feel your pain!

Data access is a battery drain. That's true regardless of the phone model and battery capacity. Being able to toggle Wi-Fi and 3G on/off quickly is an extremely useful means to prolong the life of a battery.

The thing is, in iOS 5, it's a bit of a pain. It should be very simple.

Two 'action' toggles.

1. Tap Settings

2. Swipe

I'm hoping we can generate a lot of interest across a few popular forums. Just a simple reply in the mockup link comments section (no registration needed, you can enter a dummy email address, it won't be used). It will then be emailed to Apple, and hopefully they will listen to us.

Regardless of the upcoming 5.x battery related tweaks, this feature should be stock functionality!

Peace :¬)

Then you are in the wrong place for this approach. I never said people didn't have issues with battery life, they have since the iPhone 2G. But your post made it sound as if everyone had the battery issue.

I think a simpler switch would be in order: buy a simple phone that does not use data at all. The charge on them lasts far longer. Battery life on a smartphone is going to be less than that on a simpler phone, that is a given.

With all due respect - you seem to be missing the point. One can increase the use of their iPhone by turning off Wi-Fi and 3G when not in use. Doing so is cumbersome at the moment, it could be a lot easier.

If it's not for you, you can ignore this thread and go about your business. It will be useful for many, myself included :¬)

My point was on a smartphone there is not much point in turning of all connection to the internet which is why engineers would probably not include such a function. My other point is that this is not the place to discuss this as discussions on policy, speculation, and polls are not permitted. The idea has been mentioned many times before, since 2007 in fact, so Apple is well aware of it and you aren't near the first to suggest it.

Just got my unlocked white 4S 64GB, series starts with C if that really matters. Running 5.0.1. Battery drains at about 5-6% per hour with the screen locked. Normal setup...exchange, gmail, iCloud, whatsapp, Dropbox. When I use the phone, it looses it's charge at an unacceptable rate. I'm not getting paid to and nor do i have the time to trouble shoot this for Apple. If this isn't resolved in a few weeks, I'm going to get a Galaxy or go back to the Blackberry... I'm a business user with no time for beta testing. I had the first two versions of the iPhone and went back to the blackberry waiting for Apple to get serious about their phone..I guess they still don't get it. With that said, I love the rest of my apple products ... Just very disappointed in this phone right now.
