Error Code -50 (attempting to Delete Files)

I have an Internal SATA Drive on the G5 (Secondary HD) that suddenly does not delete files, but instead gives an "Error Code -50" when attempting to do so. Have permissions set to read and write. What could cuase the problem and how can we solve it?

Thanks.

I tried pretty much everything, including `sudo rm -rf <directory>` but none of it worked.

What I did ended up doing was:

  1. Boot my Mac into Recovery Mode (restart and when you hear the "chime" hold down Command + R until you see the Apple logo and progress bar),
  2. Use Disk Utility there to run a First Aid on the disk with the issue (I'm not actually sure if this step is necessary but it did find an issue and was able to resolve it).
  3. Quit Disk Utility and use the menu at the top to open up Terminal.
  4. Run `rm -r <directory>` from there on the directory you want to remove. Tip: If it's an external hard drive, you can find all of the attached drives under `/Volumes/`.

Worked a treat for me!

Hope that helps!
