Dec 10, 2011 3:49 PM in response to antane23by BGreg,This is an issue with our Powerbooks ... streaming video stinks, as they are more often optimized for Intel-based systems. And unfortunately, Adobe Flash is no longer being updated for the PowerPC platform. One thing you can do, if you are accessing YouTube, is to sign up for their HTLM5 beta, which may make some YouTube video's run better. See http://www.youtube.com/html5

Dec 10, 2011 4:17 PM in response to BGregby antane23,Thanks for your reply. It was working fine a couple of weeks ago. What could've happened? Does this have anything to do w/proxy settings? What proxy setting should I have?

Dec 11, 2011 9:22 AM in response to antane23by BGreg,★HelpfulProxy settings depend on your network setup. For example, we have a simple internet feed to a wireless router, which requires no proxies to access the internet. If your internet service provider tells you to use a proxy, do what they say. Otherwise, it's not something you need to define in your network preferences.

Dec 12, 2011 12:31 AM in response to antane23by Braby,★HelpfulAs BGreg pointed out in his initial reply PowerBooks with their PPC processors can no longer handle streaming web-based video. However this normally shows itself as jerky pictures, often appearing more like a series of stills. The symptoms you are experiencing sound to me as if you have an issue with your connection speed - either between your router (I am assuming its wireless) and your computer or with the line speed from your ISP.
I presume you have checked what line speed you are getting using one of the many available speed testers?
A router reboot won't do any harm either. Other than that it's probably worth uninstalling Flash Player and then reinstalling the last working version for 10.4. Adobe's website has a downloadable uninstaller and links to older versions of Flash.

Dec 12, 2011 8:44 PM in response to Brabyby antane23,I did reboot the router and tested out the video I had been trying to watch---seems to be doing fine now. I suspect that you are correct regarding speed. I've had numerous interruptions to my Clear Wireless Service over the last several days needing resets and/or 2-3 pings a day to get online. That happens from time-to-time and then it'll work w/out problems for 3-4 months. Thanks for your reply. I know I'm working on outdated equipment, but I'm determined to get as far as I can w/out having to make a major purchase, but I do like being able to catch up on the documentaries online.
