Safari not working, adress bar flashing

My safari stopped working. Whenever I open it, the address bar keeps flashing, rapidly switching from the home page address to blank. It is not possible to enter any other address unless it is done by a fast copy/paste and enter that simply changes the address the flashes in the bar.

I have reset Safari, removed all Library files associated with it and reinstalled a new Safari freshly downloaded from Apple. None of these measures have helped. 😠

Help will be very much appreciated.
