Removing User Accounts

Just got a new MacBook Pro. Turned it on to start enjoying all that Lion has to offer...

Went through the startup procedure which included me setting a username and password that appears when you first boot up.

Carried on playing and was given the option merge info from my old MacBook - Brilliant! It did the job but I now have 2 icons at bootup to choose from when I only need/want one. I have logged in to the correct (admin) account and tried to delete the unwanted one. I get given 3 options of what I want to happen with the home folder (I choose to delete it) and it dissappears from the account list.

Sadly and very annoyingly when I restart the account is back again! can anyone help solve the mystery?

Hello:

It probably is a workaround, but why not set up your Mac to automatically log in (with the account you wish)? In that way, the login screen never appears.

P.S. I encountered a similar problem some time ago, but I cannot recall how I fixed it. 😟

Tried this but... asks for my password to enable the feature and when I type it in it tells me it is the wrong password!! Bizzare!

Any other ideas...anyone???

Barry, thanks for your support. I've tried all of those things and even gone through a password reset option using the "terminal" window via safe mode screen (holding option button when booting). I only ever have one password for the mac so this is really confusing me. I have tried every case sensitive variation but still no joy!

Hi again!

I am out of ideas, but since your Macbook is new, you still have the 90 day free telephone support from Apple. I think I would call Applecare and have them solve the problem.
