Unable to find settings for pop mail. Setting up Yahoo account is easy but it is imap.

When you go to other account set up, after inputing

Information, automatic installs as imap account. Never gives option for

Pop.  Any help?

Why would you want it as POP?  IMAP is more modern and more convenient.

I want to leave a copy on the server.. Unable to do that with IMAP.

    Any useful suggestions.

Unable to do that with IMAP.

    Ummm...What?????

That's what IMAP is...storing mail on the server itself and not downloading to a device and then having it delted from the server.

    Download mail to iphone.

Leave a copy of it on the server.

No option for this in IMAP or on the Iphone in settings.

POP lets you leave and gives you an option to leave a copy on the server.

Of course there's not option to leave the mail on the server because it does it by default...that's how IMAP works

Yahoo mail IMAP does not leave a copy on there server.

Once you download it to the iphone or mail on my macbook, the message is removed from Yahoo.

I set up a pop account on the mac, which will leave a copy on the server, because there is an option to

    check off for that.

On the new iphone, unlike my old iphone, does not give an option for a pop mail account or the option to check

"leave a copy on the server"

How did you make it do that?  Yahoo IMAP mail works just like any other IMAP server as far as I can tell.  I've only been using it for a about 8 months but messages remain on the server unless I delete them.  Why is it different for you?

Yahoo mail IMAP does not leave a copy on there server.

Again, yes it does.  It behaves like any other IMAP client.

Once you download it to the iphone or mail on my macbook, the message is removed from Yahoo.

For the third time...IMAP accounts DO NOT delete mail off the server when downloaded...that is a POP only feature.

If you have mail being deleted from your Yahoo account then your Mac is doing it, as Yahoo does not permit desktop mail clients to connect via IMAP...only POP..and that's only if you pay for Yahoo Plus.

pop will leave the message in the inbox on the server. Imap will not do this. It moves it to the trash or delete folder on the server. It is still there, but cannot be retrieved by another computer because it has been moved out of the inbox.

pop allows me to look at messages on my phone, but also retrieve them to my desk top when i get home using outlook. this cannot be done with imap.

how do you set up pop on iphone 4s?

This is what they did at the Apple Store for me, you have to have a Yahoo Plus account first, though.

I am having problems sending mail OUT, though,

    2) Yahoo! Mail Plus email server settings

Yahoo Plus Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 995)

Yahoo Plus Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 465, use authentication, and then select password from the Authentication)

If you need to upgrade, go to Options > Mail Plus > Upgrade now > enter your payment details for $19.99 annual fee to complete the process.
