imovie 11 not working in lion

ever since installing Lion, imovie 11, isn't working. I launch it, the windows are blank and the beach ball just spins indefinitely. Anybody else have this problem?

Any suggestions??

Thank you!!!

How scary... I've been working on IMovie and I hope this doesn't start happening to me!

I did run across this on another IMovie post, I don't know if it would apply to you, I'm not a tech guru.

Try to start a new User-Account

Still problem or Running OK ?

Help!! I have spent pretty much this whole day re-doing a project only to lose it again! It is driving me insane... iMovie will work great for a while and then out of nowhere we have the spinning beach ball and thats it from there.

I'm running Lion on a new iMac that I just got last week... So far no issues wqith it other than this!

  1. Go to the Desktop, then look for the Go Menu
  2. Hold down the Option key then, click on the Go Menu > Choose Library
  3. Go to Preferences > look for com.apple.iMovieApp.plist & com.apple.iApps.plist
  4. Drag both .plist files to the trash, reboot the Mac while holding down the Option key
  5. When you get to the point where you see your Hard drive and Recovery Volume, choose Recovery
  6. While booted from the Recovery volume, choose the Disk Utility from the dialog window
  7. Run Repair Disk Permissions inside of Disk Utility. When it finishes quit Disk Utility and reboot the Mac

These two operations might be enough to shock iMovie into working again. If it doesn't there's some other things to try as well (like temporarily moving Project folders out of the iMovie Projects Folder if need be)
