how do i wipe out ical?

on my Mac, within iCal, i have somehow made over 50 empty calendars, and can't figure out how to get rid of them all. when I used iCal on my iBook, all I had to do was delete the iCal folders within my user library folder, but with version 4, I can't delete any calendars... any suggestions? I really want my iCal to look exactly the same as my Google Calendar does (no clutter, no fuss, nothing) thanks!

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

You mean, the calendars come back when you delete them? You are not trying to delete events and they come back? If it's really the calendars, you can also not delete their folders in the user library? What about closing iCal and then deleting all cache files:

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.ical

and/or:

~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache

as well as the folders of the calendars:

~/Library/Calendars/(every folder that ends with .calendars or .group)

how do i wipe out ical?
