In amongst the trolling on a closed thread I noticed someone saying that it was possible to reinstall old versions of iWork, textedit and preview to fix this and restore the 'save as' functionality - can anyone confirm this is possible, and if so help me figure out how to do it? Thanks!
Some apps from Snow Leopard can be copied over, and they will function with Save As. Others cannot. TextEdit is one I know you can bring over from a Snow Leopard drive. Nothing special needs to be done, just copy the application.

I can't recall. Just copy Preview from SL onto your desktop (don't try and overwrite Lion's version), and launch it using some copied images. You'll know whether or not it works.
Just tested it. Preview from Snow Leopard won't even launch. But you can swap out TextEdit. Works perfectly.
Thanks - that's a bummer - preview is what I miss most. Has anyone come up with an alternative that has similar functionality to Preview? Thanks!
