Had an ipad 2 for a while, I just got the digital AV adaptor to connect to my HD tv.
For some reason it does not work on my Sony Bravia KDL 40W5810, when I select the relevent HDMI port that it is connected. I tried connecting it first then switiching it on, but that didnt work.
On another HD tv, much smaller, much cheaper it works just fine using the same HDMI cable and said adapter.
Is it a matter of compatibillty?

Your experience suggests there is a problem with the Sony TV. You might try the other HDMI port if it has one.
My only problem with a small Vizio TV, is that the wieght of the cable tends to pull the adapter out of the iPad. You might check to be sure the adapter is firmly connected.

I've used the XBOX 360 many times with the HDMI cable in all the other ports as well over time too, with no problems. On the other tv, it worked staright away.
