Tunderbolt Display firmware update 1.1

I just downloaded the latest Thunderbolt firmware update, version 1.1. When I opened the installer, I got an alert message saying "Your Thunderbolt Display does not need this update." Closing the alert window closes the installer.

Looking in my Utilities folder inside the Applications folder I found an old version of the Thunderbolt Display firmware update, version 1.0.8, created on September 15, 2011, almost 3 months ago.

What's the story? Why can't I install the new firmware update? Is it true that my Thunderbolt Display does not need the new firmware? Has anybody been able to install version 1.1?

I have a 2011 MacBook Air running OS 10.7.2 connected to my Thunderbolt Display. Generally speaking I am happy with this set-up, but I am still getting used to using two monitors.

Some people had problems with the fan in their Thunderbolt Display running all the time. Evidently the firmware version 1.1 has a fix for that problem. I never had that problem with my Thunderbolt Display, but I am interested in having the most up-to-date firmware because it may improve the overall stability and performance.

As I stated earlier, a fresh install of Lion allowed the 1.1 firmware update to install correctly on my TBD.

As a long shot, try resetting your PRAM (Command-Option-P-R) and then try running software update. Some Lion installions stall due to some code getting stuck in PRAM. Resetting PRAM clears up the issue and the installation proceeds as expected.

Been getting grief ever since I updated my MBP to the latest 10.7.3..... I haven't been around to check my Software Update but last week it recommended TBD 1.1 Firmware which I dutifully 'attempted' to install.

Since then when I boot MBP, TBD already plugged in, it takes a lifetime to boot up with a progression bar crawling on a very pale grey (gray) screen. Eventually I get to my security password screen on the TBD (Clamshell closed) and it's all over the place!

Password entered I then found half my icons on Desktop were invisible and Sound was greyed (grayed) out so no audio output or volume!

I now find I have to Restart my MBP on the first boot up, TBD connected, for the display to work as it "seemlessly" should.

Checked my TBD firmware and it's 1.0.9 - any attempt to download and install the 1.1 update results in a warning - 'Thunderbolt Software Update can't be installed on this disk. This update requires Mac OS X version 10.7.2 or EARLIER?????'

I just follwed your advice - for now my MBP appeared to boot ok to TBD but still can't update the firmware.....
