Is it possible to dock the split keyboard to the bottom of the screen?

I enjoy that there is the split keyboard option for easy thumbs-only typing, but I am finding myself unable to dock the split keyboard to the bottom of the screen. Is this possible? (to clarify, I do not mean return the split keyboard to the non-split, "docked" position. I am asking whether it can remain split and be docked)

I find it ruins the functionality of the split keyboard to have it getting in the way and hovering over top of whatever I'm trying to read. The worst offender I've found so far is using it in iMessage.

Well, the split keyboard is a great thing.

Most people complain that it cannot be docked. But I can solve the problem!

1. First, undock the merged keyboard

2. In portrait mode, hold the little hide keyboard button and swipe it down to move it . It must me positioned mast about half a centimeter above the bottom of the screen. (but don't fully dock it)

3. When the keyboard is in this position, hold the hide keyboard button and choose split.

The split keyboard is about half of an inch away from the bottom of screen

4. After about 15 minutes, the split keyboard docks itself automatically!

It really worked out on my iPad 2

Note - I haven't copied this from any website. I found it out myself when I wanted to dock the split keyboard.

Please give a like (I am just 12 years old, and I mean it)

Ya, uncle lasersmith, today I was just playing around with my iPad 2 (finding for other hacks and stuff). I was able to dock it again, though it wasn't being docked for some time. I just thought I should reply uncle lasersmith. Just saw that it's the same with you and wanted my reply.

And btw my birthday is on 20th of may. I am gonna be 13... Just so excited

Once the split keyboard is undocked it is quite hard to get it docked again because it wants to remember the settings for the split keyboard separate from the merged keyboard. When trying to dock the spilt keyboard it wants to merge and dock not just dock the split keyboard. These are the steps I had to take in order to dock the split keyboard.

1) From split undocked keyboard pinch keyboard together.

2) Dock the keyboard

3) Split the keyboard using pinch

4) Pull Slit keyboard down using keyboard undocking button/slider.

Now when going back and forth between the split keyboard and merged keyboard you can pull the split keyboard all the way down with out having it automatically merge. Unfortunately it does not remember the fully down state, and if you go to split keyboard by way of the keyboard button it will move the split keyboard way up and split it. I would conceder this a bug some would just say it is a quirky feature.

Now if Apple were to update the split keyboard code to fix this it would also would be nice if when the keyboard is split instead of having a grey translucent bar for the keyboard it would show what is under it without the bar. That would make more usable screen space!
