Is it posible to text to non-iPhone users?

Not with iMessage.
There are SMS apps that send over the internet available in the AppStore.

I use the Google Voice app. It works great.
Also check out text plus
I would love to use Google Voice but I cannot seem to configure it on this iPad. No texting or Calling.
Is this app only for iPhones?
