How do I grab the built-in webcam when another app is using it?

On Snow Leopard.

I am using an application that needs to use the built-in webcam, but I get an error message saying the camera is not available.

How can I grab the webcam for my current application? I cannot tell what app is using the webcam. I generally have to restart to get the camera freed up.

Anyone have suggestions?
