How can I move a video clip a very small amount left or right to match it to audio? I'm making a music video and I need to move a clip but it nudges just a bit too much. How do you move it less than a nudge to match audio? Please help

If you have Motion 5 (from the App Store) there is a 'Behaviour' which will animate your image in time with the music.
You can change the parameters (how much it moves, and the direction etc) within the Inspector.
If you do it within FCP X you will need to keyframe it.

In the timeline you can move a clip with the comma or period keys in one frame increments. Be careful with this as it does an overwrite and leaves a gap if you're on the primary the track.
You can use Cmd-comma or period to nudge audio in 1/80th of a frame increments. A viewer cannot see sync difference in video playback of one frame.

I used the comma key to move it where it is now and just need it like a smidge to the left. When I use the comma key it moves it too much. When I tried the command comma key it brought up the preferences page. Does it make a difference what kind of file it is?
Sorry it's Option and comma or period to move the audio. You can't move video less than one frame. If the audio is within that frame there is no way for any viewer to tell if the audio is at the front or the end of the frame. There is no question of getting it a smidgin more or less in sync. It's not going to make any visual difference.
