Q: I need a point instead of a comma in excel

Dear Community, i use Excel 2011 and I'm from Germany. Always i tip a big figure like 2500 he write: 2,500.00
What should I do that's without that comma? It could be like that although: 2.500,00 because we in germany use it the wrong way round.
Thanks for helping fast:)

This forum is for troubleshooting Apple Software Update for Windows, a software package for Windows designed to update Apple products that run on Windows, and not related to Microsoft Office in any way. Therefore you will need to ask Microsoft or post Office related questions on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac products.

On the Mac this woudl be in the system preferences under Languages and Text - on the Formats tab - this is a global OS setting and not specific to Excel.

On Windows this would be in found on the Regional Options tab of the Regional and Language options under the Control Panels - found in Settings off the Start menu. or the Formats Tab on the Regions and Language control panel - there is some variation from XP to Win7 for example in the naming of the tabs and how exactly you get there. Again this is a global OS setting not specific to Excel.

In Excel - if that is the only place you want to change the appearance of numbers - I am not sure if there is a default or excel global setting - but you can use the Number Formats to change how a given cell (or group of cells, or worksheet) displays numbers. Control-1 in windows or Command-1 on Mac will get you into the Cell Formats dialog (or you can select it from the Menu or Contextual Menu) under currency there are many options.

Although there is a specific cell format setting in Excel - this to me seems to be an OS related question - so this forum is the perfect place for such a question. Since your question was specific to something happening in Excel it might have been more logical to post at the forums related to that specific prodcut first and see where that gets you then move up to the OS forum if you could not get a satisfactory answer there first.

Also - since this is a community supported forum rather than an Apple supported forum - I don't see any issue at all with any one posting a question here that is related to ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that runs on or is plugged into their Apple device.

Now, if you wanted to post a question about the proper jets to use in a 4 barrel carberator for a '67 LeMans - or a political rant about the current administration etc - THEN I would agree that this would be a wholely inappropriate place for such a post.
